Happy February MCC Families!

Students are continuing to work hard this school year.  I've seen some secondary students exhibiting great mentoring skills in PE, Music, and Art and we have had four students graduate from MCC to attend district middle and high schools as well as seven students who are transitioning for part of their day.  Students in elementary are continuing to work on their social skills and continuing to build positive relationships with peers and staff.

We just had our first AMI day of the 2022-2023 school year and will continue to be prepared in case we end up with any additional inclement weather.  Remember that, during those AMI days, teachers as well as administrators are available to assist you and the students.  Be sure to download our Fort Zumwalt app. Go to settings and set your default school and be sure to turn notifications on, especially with the changing weather.

It might not feel it with the temperatures, but spring is on the horizon, which also means preparing for MAP and End of Course Exams as well as course selections for the 2023-2024 School Year.  Be on the lookout for information in the upcoming months on these items.

I also wanted to take the time to introduce Danielle Barclay, the new School-Based Therapist for the Mike Clemens Center.  She has been reaching out to families and students and I encourage you to reach out to see how she can further support you.

As always, Thank you for your continued support in assisting the staff at MCC in developing a safe, trusting, and supportive environment by creating and maintaining relationships with students; building skills that will best utilize their social, emotional, behavioral, and/or academic needs; as well as focusing on each individual's journey to excellence and success.

Sincerely,

Dr. Tanya Deering
