Fall Parties
The staff at the MCC will soon be sharing information with you on fall room parties. By celebrating the season, instead of just the one day of Halloween, our teachers and students have some flexibility in choosing a party date that works best for them. It also helps parents because there is no need to worry about a costume for school. Parents who might otherwise have had to work on one costume for Halloween night and another one that is school appropriate will no longer have that worry.
The following are the times on Nov. 2, when the fall parties will take place:
Ms. Jill - 1 - 2 pm
Ms. Karey and Mr. Tommy - 1:45 - 2:45 pm
Ms. Dasha and Ms. Becca - 1:30 - 2:30 pm
*Remember to be a parent volunteer a new form has to be on file with MCC. Please check with Kathy in the office if you are interested in helping.
Veterans Day Celebration
Teachers and staff are getting together activities to complete for Veterans Day. We also have been invited once again to attend that Veterans Day Assembly at Westhoff Elementary. Teachers will be sending information home as needed for this celebration.
Mentor Committee
The Committee Highlight for the month of November is our Mentor Committee. Staff members who are a part of this committee develop activities that involve paring an older & younger student to complete a project together. During this project, the students talk and build social confidence and trust with their mentor peer. The October mentor project was pumpkin decorating. We encourage you to ask your student about their mentor!
Postive Peer Influence Week / Red Ribbon Week
The Week of Oct. 29 - Nov. 2, the Mike Clemens Center participated in Postive Peer Influence Week and Red Ribbon Week. The committee developed a week of activities that encouraged positive influences in the lives of our students. We had dress up days, Officer Julie Long came in to speak to the elementary and secondary classes, as well as peer building activities throughout the building.
2019 MLK Contest (NEA)
MNEA Human Rights Committee sponsors 2019 MLK Contest. The Missouri NEA Human Rights Committee is sponsoring the 2019 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay-Poster Contest for K-12 public school students. “Honoring Dr. King: Looking Back and Moving Forward” is the theme for the 2019 contest. Winners are chosen at several levels: K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Gift cards are awarded to first place ($50), second place ($30) and third place ($20) winners in each of the five categories.
